STEM stands for Science, Technology,
Engineering and Math
What is our purpose at STEM?
Getting kids in grades four through twelve excited about science,
technology, engineering and math.
We want to create a desire in kids to learn about these subjects
and to pursue careers in these fields.
Getting college students excited about teaching science, technology,
engineering and math.
We want to create a desire in graduate and undergraduate students
majoring in these fields to give back to their communities through
education even as they pursue their other career goals.
Getting the whole community involved in helping kids succeed.
We want to create partnerships among local schools, universities
and private industry that bring the real world of science into
the classroom.
STEM puts graduate and undergraduate college students in grade
four through twelve classrooms where they help to teach hands-on
lessons about science, technology, engineering and math. Teachers,
students, professors and industry partners work together to create
real world applications that fit into each classroom’s curriculum.
STEM is a project of Lehigh University funded by a grant from the
National Science Foundation.
